Full-Time Livestock Supervisor Jobs
Job Description
Our client, an agribusiness focusing on supplying quality halal meat products is hiring a Livestock Supervisor. He/She will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and management of livestock on the farm. This includes ensuring the health, safety, and welfare of the animals, managing livestock care activities, coordinating feeding and breeding programs, and supervising staff members involved in livestock operations. The supervisor also ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations and farm safety protocols.
Location. Copperbelt, Zambia
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Livestock Care & Management:
- Oversee the care and well-being of livestock,and all aspects of animal husbandry.
- Monitor animal health, behavior, and growth, and report any concerns or abnormalities to the farm manager.
- Administer or coordinate vaccination and disease prevention programs.
- Coordinate feeding schedules, ensuring animals are provided with proper nutrition.
- Ensure appropriate breeding programs are in place and monitor breeding cycles.
Supervision & Staff Management:
- Supervise and train livestock staff in proper animal care, handling techniques, and safety procedures.
- Managingof farm laborers, including assigning tasks and ensuring work is completed effectively and safely.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
Record Keeping & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of livestock health, breeding, feeding, and any incidents.
- Monitor livestock production (e.g., milk, eggs, wool) and track performance metrics.
- Prepare reports on livestock performance, health trends, and any issues for management review.
Facility Maintenance & Safety:
- Ensure that livestock facilities, such as barns, pens, and pastures, are clean, safe, and well-maintained.
- Oversee the maintenance of equipment and machinery used in livestock care.
- Enforce safety protocols and regulations to minimize risks to animals, staff, and the environment.
Compliance & Best Practices:
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations concerning animal welfare, food safety, and environmental standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends and best practices for livestock management and care.

- Assist in managing inventory of livestock supplies such as feed, medicine, and equipment.
- A Bachelor’s degree in animal science, agriculture, or related field preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in livestock management or a related role.
- Strong knowledge of animal husbandry, feeding programs, breeding processes, and health management.
- Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions under pressure.
- Familiarity with farm machinery, tools, and livestock care equipment is a plus.Participate in livestock sale

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS
