Internal Risk & Audit Manager
Job Summary
Reporting to both the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Audit & Risk Board Sub-Committee, the Internal Risk & Audit Manager will be responsible for undertaking continuous independent audit engagements and plans and internal control reviews, ensuring that the operations of the Hospital are carried out in line with the documented policies and procedures, comply with legal and statutory requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Formulation and implementation of all audit policies and work plans in the Hospital.
- Prepare and implement audit plans to ensure all risks in the auditable areas are fully addressed and periodic audits are completed within the agreed schedule as set out in the annual audit plan.
- Ensuring that previous year Audit recommendations are implemented, and errors are resolved properly.
- Document result of Audit testing; develop recommendations and draft Audit reports based on Audit testing.
- Study and inspect budgets, financial records and statements and assisting the Hospital in preparing them.
- Develop appropriate risk assessment matrices to be used as a guide in identifying inherent risks and internal/management control processes in all areas.
- Risk evaluation: review reports on key control weaknesses, detect non-compliance with Hospital policies, guidelines and regulatory requirements and procedures and discuss with relevant departmental heads for action.
- managing the departmental team through training and development to ensure optimal productivity and high value services.

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
- Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance/Auditing options), Finance, Business Administration (Accounting/Finance Option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- CPA-K holder
- Membership to Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK) or relevant Professional Body.
- Possession of Computerized Information system Audit will be an added advantage.
- At least five years’ experience in the Internal Audit, in an audit firm or in a comparable and relevant position.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated professional competence and managerial capability
- Proficiency in Computer (Ms Office) and Accounting Systems
- Ability to manipulate large amount of data and to compile detailed reports.

Medical Officer
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Medical Services Director, the Medical Officer job exists to provide general medical services to patients in the hospital; ensure provision of quality and timely medical services, quality patient care and medical counselling at Tenwek Hospital
The right candidate will be required to:
- Participate in the strategic planning of the division in collaboration with other medical staff in the unit for significant impact on the performance or business outcome of the hospital and its sub-functions.
- Attend to patients’ medical needs, diagnose their illnesses and prescribe medicines and other therapeutic interventions in consultation rooms at the hospital.
- Follow-up on and observe the clinical conditions and progress of patients in the wards
- Provide medical advice, counselling, health education and control measures to patients in the hospital in order to prevent spread of diseases and injuries.
- Work with other medical staff to solve single or multiple medical issues and/or participate in performing extensive surgical operations in the hospital.
- Implement best practice clinical and patient care related policies and procedures in the outpatient division of the hospital.
- Refer outpatients to the appropriate specialized clinics and medical consultants within the hospital for further diagnosis, treatment and management of their medical conditions.
- Provide quality emergency medical services to patients in the emergency unit of the hospital.

Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from a recognized institution
- Must have a Certificate in basic life support and Advanced Cardiac life support
Professional Qualifications:
- Registration with the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council
- Valid Practice License.
- At least one year working experience in medical practice in a busy health facility.
Pharmacy Services Manager
Job Summary:
Reporting to the Medical Services Director, the Pharmacy Services Manager is responsible for providing leadership and management oversight of the pharmacy services department and ensure delivery of quality and efficient pharmacy services in line with the established protocols and the Hospital’s patient care objectives and the licensing board guidelines and policies.
Responsibilities
- The Pharmacy Services Manager will be expected to manage the department to maintain timely and efficient patient flow in line with Hospital targets while always ensuring staffing levels.
- Timely development, review and ensure compliance to pharmacy protocols and standards relating to distribution and administration of drugs; in consultation with other clinical departments in order to ensure quality pharmacy service delivery in the hospital.
- Manage delivery of patient centric pharmaceutical services in all the hospital’s pharmacy outlets in a manner that respects privacy and confidentiality to ensure optimal patient experience.
- Develop and implement evidence-based medicine management policies in line with best practices and industry trends.
- Ensure purchase, storage, and supply of pharmacy items in a safe, appropriate, and economic in line with quality standards.
- Coordinate medical training including Continuous Medical Education programs for staff in the pharmacy services department.
- Keep abreast of local and global best practices, identify key learnings for the clinical operations and offer recommendations to the Director, Medical Services.
- Ensure delivery of quality and safe pharmacy services to inpatients, outpatients, and employees.
- Provide clinical pharmaceutical leadership and direct patient service programs.
- Provide leadership in the acquisition and purchasing of quality drugs for hospital usage.
- Coordinate medication deliveries and maintain an orderly workflow for all medication dispensing activities in the hospital to ensure timely deliveries of medications.

- Oversee the quality assurance program, which consistently monitors and evaluates critical aspects of care.

Information System Auditor
Reporting to the Internal Risk & Audit Manager, the Information Systems Auditor will be required to perform information systems and operations audits, both technical and end-user across the Tenwek Hospital and its outstations. He/she will undertake special investigations, provide advice to the business on a broad range of issues as and when required, and support business growth & process improvements while working closely with other departments and in line with Internal Audit Methodology, processes, procedures and time frames.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize extensive understanding of business activities to recommend scope and objectives of assigned audits, execute audit procedures, perform detailed analysis, reach sound conclusions, and document results for assigned audit activities.
- Participate in the execution of multiple audit projects to achieve the scope, timing, and objectives of each assignment while ensuring applicable regulatory guidance is included in scope for assigned audits where applicable.
- Proactively identify risks, evaluate controls and make recommendations to improve internal control and operational effectiveness and efficiency.
- Analyze and verify transactions and representations as well as performing review of test work completed by assigned staff.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge Experience& Key Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science from a recognized university.
- Professional Certification in IT, Audit, Risk and Security e.g. CISA, CIA, CISM or CISSP.
- Excellent understanding of auditing concepts and practices with a minimum of 2 years’ experience role in Systems Auditor.
- Skilled in project management and maintaining composure under pressure while meeting multiple deadlines.
- Demonstrable knowledge in risk assessment and control concepts/methodologies.

Purpose:
Reporting to the Nursing Officer Unit In-Charge, the Nursing Officer will provide nursing services within the respective department, in order that the patient/client receives quality care for the honour and glory of God.
Roles & Responsibilities

Pharmaceutical Technologist
Role Summary:
Reporting to the Pharmacy Manager, the Pharmaceutical Technologist job exists to provide pharmaceutical services to patients and provide pharmacy and pharmaceutical support services at Tenwek Hospital.
The right candidate will be required to:
- Dispense medications and monitor patient health and progress to maximize their response to the medication in the pharmacy of the hospital.
- Provide expertise about the composition of drugs, including their chemical, biological, and physical properties and their manufacture and use in the pharmacy of the hospital.
- Ensure drug purity and strength and make sure that drugs do not interact in a harmful way in the pharmacy of the hospital.
- Receive and process patients’ prescription correctly and accurately for both in/outpatients in the pharmacy of the hospital.
- Give accurate drug information to patients, wards and other user departments in the hospital.
- Constitute, restructure, prepare and label extemporaneous preparations for in/outpatients in the pharmacy of the hospital.
- Participate in drug stocking and stock taking drug in the pharmacy of the hospital.
- Check the expiry dates of pharmacy drugs and ensuring compliance with the short Expiry Drug Policy in the pharmacy of the hospital.

Role Summary:
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Laboratory Technologist exists to provide general medical laboratory services to patients at Tenwek Hospital. The right candidate will be required to:
- Ensure that the laboratory is clean and in the required condition in order to provide conducive working environment for quality laboratory service delivery in the hospital.
- Review laboratory safety policies and procedures in collaboration with the Laboratory Manager
- Implement the required laboratory safety standards enshrined in Laboratory Standard Operating Procedures in the hospital.
- Perform advanced medical tests and other diagnostic procedures in order to diagnose complex medical conditions in the laboratory of the hospital.
- Perform occasional chemical tests, laboratory machines and equipment test, and that any necessary adjustments are effected for evaluation and quality control purposes and release of products in the hospital.
- Ensure proper handling, storage and management of laboratory equipment, materials and records in the laboratory of the hospital.
- Implement and maintain laboratory operating systems for implementing laboratory programmes, projects and activities in the laboratory of the hospital.
